Cellar Door Skeptics 178: New Theory on Distribution Method for Salaries

Cellar Door Skeptics have an extended weekend but cram out an episode between cooking and working this holiday week. We apologize for not releasing on Wednesday but we promise this episode is worth the wait.

The show begins with a conversation on a new theory that has been tested by a few companies where they give more money to those on the bottom of the workforce verses distributing it back to the top.The team also talks about Ford’s job restructuring and how Trump’s awesome plans have really “helped” that industry. We also look at an article that talks about how Trump has maneuvered his tax returns and created standards for others in a similar class to do the same.

The show ends with a discussion on a new scientific discovery about how volcanoes form as well as the Quick Saves of the week.

Cellar Door Skeptics 171: Examining Bernie Sanders VS Andrew Yang

CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW!

The show takes a dive back into politics this week as we look at the difference between Andrew Yang’s policy proposals and Bernie Sanders Proposals. With the 2020 election geering up, we felt it would be a benefit to look into if there was differences between two candidates. We our joined b y our podcast friend Boyce from Mindful Skeptics right here in West Michigan as we meet up to share our opinions on the subject.

This episode broke on of our oaths to not discuss candidates till closer to the election, but we felt that there was enough buzz between the two candidates that it was worth examining. We still will not side with any one specific candidate, but we will look at these two and determine if there is any similarities between them and if it is worth even looking at Mr Yang.

Cellar Door Skeptics 159: Choose Your Own Michigan in 2019

CLICK THE IMAGE TO LISTEN!

After a short break, Cellar Door Skeptics comes back to life with an episode recapping of the happenings over break. Tanner recently watched Bandersnatch with his son and he reviews the movie, relates it to his childhood, and has a little bit of fun decompressing from the nightmare that politics has been over the last couple weeks.

The show continues talking about a new charity research and ratings website that is like the Yelp of nonprofits. They look through the website and bring to light some of the amazing ways to find which charity you can donate to for the upcoming year.

The science segment comes back this year with a look at Saturn’s rings. They talk through some of the evolution of the rings while immersing themselves in a good dose of science and how long it could be before Saturn divorces the universe.

The show closes with a discussion on what happened after the close of the Michigan Lame Duck session last month. They review the victories and losses while reminiscing what it would be like to not have lame duck sessions ever again.

Cellar Door Skeptics 157: Holiday Traditions and is Cortez a Progressive

This holiday season, Cellar Door Skeptics is working hard at bringing you an episode every week. This week the duo puts forth a discussion built on the holidays but with a twist. The episode starts talking about Brett K the failure and the dismissal of all the ethical complaints lodged against him from the hearings. The good news is that there is a local charity you can support called Haven that helps domestic violence victims andsexual assault victims locally.

The episode continues with a look at christmas and holiday traditions from around the world. They talk about their favorite traditions and what they learned from those around the world who also celebrate the holiday in their own fashion. They move on to look at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive beliefs. They talk through her support of Nancy Pelosi along with her new proposed Green New Deal.

The show ends with Hanna’s and Tanner’s Quick Saves of the week.

Cellar Door Skeptics 141: Does California’s Prop 13 Smell Moldy and Rotten?

The team is back at it again this week with an action packed episode filled with quips, humor, science, and of course politics. This week they talk through how crazy Michigan’s weather was during recording as a new to Tanner weather term emerged. Of course it would not be a show without a look into what Trump has done this week to one up the antics of the previous week. They look at his urge to Pastors to violate the Johnson Amendment this midterm because Antifa is coming to take your rights away if Democrats win. Also Trump has remained almost mute on the passing of John McCain while folding his arms in the style matching Tanner’s 8 year old when she is angry and doesn’t want to talk.

For Chris Squared’s science segment, the duo looks a new study that shows sexual activity in teens have not increased just because the HPV Vaccine was made available for free in some states. While many conservatives and christians would have you believe we would have more teens having sex early, these studies show why facts should always outweigh our beliefs. The show ends examining California’s Prop 13 and why some in California want to repeal it. The discussion gets lively as Tanner expresses his displeasure in what was a well meaning bill back in the 70’s now harming low income and the funding the state gets to help support those in need.

Cellar Door Skeptics 139: Tis The Season to Kneel / Slayer Loves us All

Cellar Door Skeptics is back at it with another action packed episode. The duo talks about the NFL decision to postpone their ruling on suspensions for not standing for the national anthem while examining #45 tweets that fit into an authoritarian government that the GOP hates so much. They also cover a new medical study that is studying medical marijuana on mice for intestinal issues. The research is starting to expand as people are now testing different theories of how marijuana can help others.

As the show winds down they cover Tanner’s recent Slayer concert, his distaste of some of the bands personal interests and takes a look at the accusations of Slayer being linked to White Supremacy. If that was not enough they covered a new article about how facial recognition and replication software can map one face to another persons face. This has become concerning because it can be used to bolster the fake news industry.

Cellar Door Skeptics 137: Fred Wooden for Congress, 3rd District of Michigan

This episode of Cellar Door Skeptics is dedicated to our interview with Fred Wooden. He is running for Congress in the 3rd District here in Michigan and we thought it would be a great discussion! He was incredibly knowledgeable and even scolded Chris Hanna for mixing up his voting dates! We completely and thoroughly endorse Fred Wooden for the upcoming primary and hopefully will be able to support him in November for the General Election! GO VOTE WE NEED YOU!

Please consider donating to my friends Go Fund me as he has recently lost his child and needs all the support he can get.

Cellar Door Skeptics 135: The Darkest Timeline – This week in American Politics

Cellar Door Skeptics returns with a more serious episode. Tanner and Hanna talk about how America has entered the darkest timeline. Society seems to continue to feel like we live in Bizarro World as Trump creates a denaturalization taskforce. This is not as funny as space force was because it is setup to start deporting citizens. To help ease some of the bad news this week, the duo talk about their love of the local art museum, what it was like to see a dragon exhibit, and how even as skeptics we love some of the romanticised ideas of the past. They close the show out by talk about Trump’s new pick and how maybe he is the new Forest Gump of republican politics.
