Cellar Door Skeptics 164: Everyone Is Awesome and Agnostic Except Jesus

CLICK THE IMAGE TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW!!!

This episode functions like the Lego Movie’s theme of “Everything is Awesome” while looking at being an Agnostic Atheist. They start the episode out by talking the phenomena that Hanna has found where Paper Airplanes are playing a new role in automation. The show moves toward a discussion on how the Bible is not only a harmful to display in schools but may also be harmful to Christians as they take their journey with their faith. They then interview Marie from Everyone’s Agnostic Podcast with her decision to join the show and her desire to help those who want to leave their faith and need stories to guide them through the journey. The show ends with Tanner and Hannas quicksaves.

Cellar Door Skeptics 163: Tanner Goes to Jesus Camp

Click the image to listen to the show!

This week has been a long week for the team. This episode comes a day late as the team is trying to catch up on work and home life. But do not fear they managed to put together a thoughtful episode this week. It begins with a discussion on the Super Bowl, The Ads, and Trump’s State of the Union Address. They continue the show with a look at the charity of the week, Camp Quest Michigan. They tell stories about their camp experiences and how it affected their lives. The show ends with a discussion about Jesus Camp, how it related to Tanner’s upbring and camp experiences, and a look into what Hanna may encounter when his children grow up and want to go to camp.

Cellar Door Skeptics 162: Do Democrats Oppose Walls / New York’s Late Term Abortion Law

The duo starts the show off talking about the charity of the week. The Holocaust was a huge tragedy that plagued the world in the 30s and 40s. The charity is a local memorial museum that helps everyone know the history of the atrocities that happened to millions of people.

As the show continues on, Tanner talks about some of the recent articles pushed by the Anti-Choice groups that believe the New York law allowing women to have abortions after 24 weeks due to complications is going to lead to women having numerous abortions because they just want to. The articles use fear tactics, fake news, and slippery slope arguments to try and conflate the real news of women being able to make their own choices about their health care.

The final segment Hanna did some research to investigate how many times democrats have voted for a wall. He looks into if it is a valid argument many trumpsters pose and what we need to know to ensure that we can make informed decisions when it comes to the next election cycle.

The show ends as always with Hanna’s and Tanner’s Infamous Quick Saves of the week.

Cellar Door Skeptics 161: Hugs or High Fives with Sara Cunningham of Free Mom Hugs

Cellar Door Skeptics is bringing you not one, but two charities of the week. Their segment talking about local charities is extended this week as they interview Sara Cunningham of Free Mom Hugs, an organization dedicated to help other parents realize the having children whom are LGBTQ is wonderful and normal. Sara tells her story about how she left conservative christian beliefs and came to the understanding that her beliefs should never dictate who she loves. She talks about her organization Free Mom Hugs, how it started, and the desire to help make an impact on society to shed the ridiculous idea that LGBTQ people are not deserving of love.

Check out our full unedited interview on Patreon for a longer version of our discussion.

After talking about the different charities, the duo tackle the highly controversial video of the MAGA hat wearing youth, their confrontation with a Native American Elder, and why even with the longer video we need to stop and examine the evidence before letting these children off the hook. Chris Squared take a deep dive into an emotional subject and look at some of the reasons they feel the situation should be given a second look without just accepting what the media said. This segment is full of passion, as both of the Chris’ wade through how the situation could have been handled better by the children, and how even if they were screaming, how their MAGA hats represent the hate and racism embodied within our society.

The show ends as always with Hanna’s and Tanner’s Infamous Quick Saves of the week.

Cellar Door Skeptics 149: Changing the Political Landscape with Ron, Garnet, and Jerry

The local political discussion continues with Cellar Door Skeptics as they interview politics at the local level who will help make a difference in our society. The GOP continues to want to claim states rights is the only way to go. Well we feel we need to fight back by taking local politics back while moving Michigan from a hazy red toward a strong blue. The wave is coming and without your voice, we can not change society to be more progressive without you.

This week we talk with Ron Draayer running for office in the 72 district, Garnet Lewis in the 26th District, and Jerry in the 89th district. The common theme we talk about is helping the populous of Michigan, while continuing to help those in need. Each candidate focuses on how they can help shape Michigan to be more humanistic in their values while protecting minorities and creating as fair a landscape as possible.

Cellar Door Skeptics 147: Early Prevention with the Blue Wave Vaccine, Featuring Heidi Zuniga

Cellar Door Skeptics has started the push to help give a voice to the local candidates running for office in Michigan. They start their series talking with the candidates that will make a difference if elected into office this year.

The series kicks off by talking with Democrat, Mother, and Teacher Heidi Zuniga. We talk a look at the 88th district and the changes that Heidi could bring to help decrease the amount of Red we all see in our state. She is facing off against Luke Meerman, an ultra conservative Republican who has a hard time working for women’s rights while using his status, money, and friends to help get him a seat on the ticket this November.

We talk with Heidi about the beginning of her campaign, what she is doing to better her community, and why we should work toward voting in grassroots campaigns that care about the constituents without succumbing to large corporate interests.

Check out a down to earth women who deserves your vote this November.
